Behind the Lens: Photographing Chip and Pepper Wetwear's Relaunch Collection

We recently had the opportunity to work with Chip and Pepper Wetwear, an iconic clothing brand known for its vibrant, beach-inspired collections. As part of their exciting brand relaunch, I was tasked with photographing pieces from their latest collection, capturing the essence of their designs through high-quality imagery.
The Vision
Chip and Pepper Wetwear's relaunch aims to showcase fresh, stylish apparel while staying true to their roots. Our goal was to create imagery for the brand to use on their store page, showcasing each item in high detail.
Behind the Scenes: The Studio Setup
To achieve the crisp, polished look that this collection demanded, I used a home studio setup equipped with the Aputure 300X light. This versatile lighting tool allowed me to adjust the color temperature to match the natural tones of the fabric. To further soften the lighting and reduce harsh shadows, I incorporated several bounce boards. These helped diffuse the light evenly across the garments, ensuring a natural and flattering look for each shot.
One key aspect of the shoot was color accuracy. I used color cards during the session to ensure that the colors of the clothing were captured as true to life as possible. This step is essential, especially for a brand relaunch where the integrity of the product’s appearance plays a critical role in its presentation and appeal to customers.
The Collection
This new collection, which blends classic Wetwear elements with modern updates, focuses on laid-back, comfortable fashion that’s perfect for casual outings or beachside adventures.
