Big update on the drone side of things.
DIRXECP has officially been granted a Canada-wide Blanket Special Flight Operations Certificate (SFOC) for 2026, issued by Transport Canada. This approval allows us to legally and safely conduct advanced drone operations across Canada—without needing to reapply for individual SFOCs for every project.
In short: more flexibility, faster approvals, and fewer limitations when it comes to complex aerial work.
What Is a Blanket SFOC?
A Blanket SFOC is a pre-approved authorization that covers a wide range of advanced drone operations over a long period of time and across multiple locations.
Instead of applying for a new SFOC for every city, site, or production, this approval allows DIRXECP to operate under a single, nationally recognized safety framework—provided all conditions and mitigations are met.
This is typically granted only to operators who demonstrate:
Advanced pilot certification
Proven operational experience
Detailed safety management procedures
Risk mitigation planning
A strong compliance history

Why This Matters for Clients
For clients, this approval removes friction.
It means:
Faster project timelines – less waiting on approvals
More locations available – urban areas, controlled airspace, complex environments
Fewer last-minute restrictions – planning is more predictable
Higher safety standards – every flight follows a Transport Canada–approved framework
Whether it’s a commercial shoot, branded content, documentary, real estate, or large-scale event coverage, this certification ensures aerial operations are handled professionally from day one.
What Types of Operations This Covers
With the Canada-wide Blanket SFOC, DIRXECP can support:
Urban and built-up area flights
Operations near people and structures (with mitigations)
Flights in controlled airspace (with coordination)
Complex commercial productions
Multi-day and multi-city projects
Event and venue-based aerial coverage
Each flight is still carefully planned, risk-assessed, and coordinated—but this approval removes the need to start from scratch every time.

A Focus on Safety & Compliance
This certification isn’t just paperwork—it reflects how DIRXECP already operates.
Every drone project includes:
Site surveys and airspace checks
Risk assessments and mitigation planning
Emergency procedures
Crew coordination and observer protocols
Clear communication with venues, municipalities, and air traffic services when required
Compliance isn’t an add-on—it’s built into the workflow.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As regulations continue to evolve, having a Canada-wide Blanket SFOC allows DIRXECP to stay ahead of changes while continuing to deliver high-quality aerial work without unnecessary delays.
This approval opens the door for:
Larger commercial projects
Touring productions and national campaigns
More ambitious creative concepts
Expanded FPV and cinematic drone work
