INSIDE THE RUN: SMOKE SIGNALS HITS WINNIPEG
BEHIND THE CONTENT — MATTMAC / STAR SEEKER

A media day, a merch shoot, and a livestream at No Fun Club — documenting Mattmac's album week alongside Question ATL, in from Atlanta for the release.

When Star Seeker's David Hodges called about covering Mattmac's press run for Smoke Signals, the brief was simple: be everywhere, capture everything, keep it moving. Over the past few days that's meant a citywide media day, a full merch and performance content shoot, and a livestream from No Fun Club — with Question ATL flying in from Atlanta to be part of it.

THE MEDIA RUN
Wednesday started early with a pickup and a tight loop across the city — Question first, then straight into a three-stop press day built around the album and the upcoming release show.
CTV Your Morning Winnipeg — a quick studio chat on Smoke Signals, career, and the collab, followed by a live performance of "I Remember When."
Treaty 1 Today (RogersTV) — a longer sit-down on the album and where the career's headed next.
APTN National News — a live interview and a clean performance cut of "I Remember When" to close out the day.
Between every stop, we grabbed behind-the-scenes footage — arrivals, hallway moments, the small stuff that makes a press day feel like a press day instead of three separate interviews stitched together.
FOUR SONGS, FIVE LOCATIONS, ONE AFTERNOON.

MERCH & PERFORMANCE CONTENT
Thursday shifted from press to product. New merch landed that morning, and the afternoon was built around getting Mattmac and Question on camera performing across the Smoke Signals tracklist — "I Remember," "Real Boss," "Can You Hear Me," and "League" — in the merch, and again on a hanging mic setup with one artist performing while the other worked in the background. Multiple Winnipeg locations, back to back, chasing daylight the whole way.
ON SET Double-shot format content with Question ran alongside the main coverage — extra footage built specifically for his side of the release push.
LIVE FROM NO FUN CLUB
The album release Facebook Live gave the week its centerpiece. We covered the stream itself, then stayed on to capture Sessions-style content with Question and additional freestyle footage in the room — the kind of raw, in-the-moment material that doesn't happen on a press-day schedule.
TWO ARTISTS, ONE VISION
Something worth saying plainly: both Mattmac and Question are blind artists, and neither that fact nor how it shapes a shoot day gets talked about enough. It changes how you block a scene, how you communicate marks and timing, how you think about audio cues instead of visual ones. What it doesn't change is the work — both of them showed up ready to perform, take after take, location after location, carrying an entire press run and content week on pure talent and preparation. That's the story underneath the story this week.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Smoke Signals Album Release Party caps the week, with multi-camera coverage in the works to match the scale of the moment. More on that once it's locked.
